Well, it was probably bound to happen eventually, and today I broke my
first carboy while cleaning it; but I guess that's not bad for over 10
years brewing and probably a hundred plus batches. I banged it against
another carboy, so I'm lucky I didn't break both of them.
Anyway, I was still sulking about that when I had a second mishap. I
had poured half of my kettle through a strainer into a bucket to catch
the hops before transfer via funnel into a carboy. I lifted the bucket,
noticed that the funnel was still in the sanitizing bucket, set the
bucket of wort on the side of the bathtub while I reached for the
funnel, and I'm sure you can guess what happened next. Well, there went
half a batch down the drain, plus a little mess to clean up from some
that spashed out onto the floor. But at least it fell into the bathtub
and not onto the floor.
