Alt with a strong malty taste, but weak hop taste?

by adam.preble@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jul 23, 2008 at 09:52 PM

I have a kolsch going right now, and I was thinking of throwing
something else on the yeast cake. I wanted to make something malty
with no hop character. I know I can do whatever pleases me, but I
wondered if I could get away with something that would work to the
BJCP in case it comes out good. I think altbier is something that can
be fermented with kolsch yeast, but I don't think the guidelines match
the high malt, low hop taste I want. Did I miss a category?

Otherwise, I was thinking of trying to sneak in a munich dunkel with
the yeast, despite it being the wrong yeast. Would it work?
